The MDC Care Management and Supportive Housing program offers a variety of services to low-income residents, families in crisis, and those experiencing homelessness or disability. With a variety of housing options and lease terms, members of the community are supported with assistance obtaining documentation, housing budgets, fair housing resources, affordable monthly rent, and more.
ABOUT OUR HOUSING PROGRAMS
Housing for homeless families with tailored case management services aimed at decreasing barriers to housing. Please complete this form to refer a client/or to be referred to one of the MDC Supportive Housing Programs. The form will take approximately 8 minutes to complete.
For individuals with substance use disorder or mental health barriers, housing options are available in tandem with long-term supportive services—including mental and physical health services, substance use recovery, and vocational training—to help them find stability.
Breaking the cycle of chronic homelessness, the Housing First program in Pierce County provides individuals and families with short-term rental assistance, case management and other social services to help them create a stable home life.
With 218 units of affordable housing available throughout Pierce County, MDC provides rental homes for those earning less than 60% of the Area Median Income. Affordable housing options include single family homes, duplexes, shared housing and multi-family dwellings.

The Randall Townsend Apartments include 35 units of permanent supporting housing to those living with a disability or experiencing homelessness. With swift access to social services, we prioritize the medical and behavioral health of our tenants in a safe, supportive environment. We offer avenues for our tenants to find their own housing, if they desire, to assist them on their journey to stability and self-sufficiency.
Pacific Courtyard is an apartment complex offering 46 units of affordable and project-based housing for individuals and families alike. Besides eight apartments set aside for veterans, the community also includes families experiencing homelessness and residents earning less than half of the area’s median income.
In partnership with the Tacoma Housing Authority, Campbell Court features 11 studio apartments for those experiencing mental illness and homelessness. Eligible tenants are supported by on-site property managers and supportive services to find financial stability, self-sufficiency and life changing growth.
621 Yakima is home to 21 furnished studio apartments for those experiencing homelessness. The monthly rent for these project-based voucher units is equal to 30% of an individual’s income. Residents are supported by a dedicated, on-site property manager.
With 11 furnished studio apartments, 615 G Street is designed to serve residents needing transitional housing while receiving treatment for substance use disorders. As a sober living facility, 615 G Street provides resources and support for ongoing recovery including outpatient services, medication management, group sessions and more.
To become a resident of Avenue Apartments, the prospective tenant must be a young person experiencing homelessness and disability from the ages of 18 and 24 years old. The individual must also be referred from a shelter or a similar homeless outreach program. The Avenue Apartments are 15 furnished studios located on the third floor of the MDC administrative building with elevator access and on-site laundry.
ENERGY ASSISTANCE & WEATHERIZATION
These days, your power bill is so much more than just keeping the lights on. The Energy Assistance Program provides grants to assist qualifying households with heating and energy costs.
The right to live in a warm home, to breathe clean air, and to have an affordable electric bill are among our most basic human rights. The Weatherization Program levels the scales of poverty.
